The Night of the Bear

Chic Choc Black Rum Moderate Adventurer

In this dark-coloured cocktail, a range of concealed flavours reveal themselves into a fiery mix. The Night of the Bear is hands down a daring cocktail for those who are looking for the unexpected.


  • 45 ml (1 ½ oz.) Chic Choc Black Rum
  • 45 ml (1 ½ oz.) espresso coffee, cooled
  • 30 ml (1 oz.) blackcurrant and cayenne pepper syrup*
  • 7.5 ml (¼ oz.) pink grapefruit juice
  • Blackberries
  • Slice of orange


  • Pour all the ingredients into a shaker filled with ice cubes.
  • Shake vigorously.
  • Strain the contents of the shaker into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice cubes.
  • Garnish with blackberries and an orange slice on a cocktail pick.


*For the blackcurrant and cayenne pepper syrup: dissolve 3 tablespoons of blackcurrant jam in 4 tablespoons of boiling water. Add a pinch of cayenne pepper. Mix well, pass through a sieve and let cool.
